The Best (Worst) Songs For Grief
I don’t know if sorrow is in the air but I’ve seen so much loss over the past month or two that it almost seems like I must be imagining it. At the risk of sounding cliche, the people who have lost and the people who who have been lost are all the ones we all root for: the sweet, the innocent, the strong, the benevolent and the wise.
Music has always been my (everyone’s) escape in hard times and this is no exception. Here’s the saddest (happiest) songs I can recommend for climbing up out of water that seeks to strangle.
Written by a sibling band from the point of view of their dying mother:
Heard while death loomed. Heard differently after the fact.
In spanish. Tangibly tortured.
